Raspberry Vodka Sour

A vodka sour is one of those cocktails that always feels balanced. It’s bright, refreshing, and easy to sip. Adding raspberries gives it a little more depth: fruity, slightly tart, and just sweet enough to round everything out. It’s a great drink for late summer evenings, but honestly, it works year-round when you want something light and a little elegant without being complicated.

Course: Drinks

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 4-5 fresh raspberries
  • Ice
  • Optional: 1 egg white (for a silky texture and foam)
  • Garnish: lemon wheel or a few extra raspberries

Method

  1. Add the raspberries and simple syrup to a shaker, and muddle until the berries are broken down.
  2. Add vodka, lemon juice, and egg white (if using).
  3. Shake without ice for about 15 seconds if using egg white (this is called a dry shake).
  4. Add ice and shake again until well chilled.
  5. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice, or serve straight up in a coupe if you prefer.
  6. Garnish with a lemon wheel or fresh raspberries.

Notes

  • If you like your drinks on the sweeter side, increase the simple syrup to 1 oz.
  • For a cleaner presentation, you can double-strain through a fine mesh sieve to catch raspberry seeds.
  • The egg white is optional but makes the drink feel a little more classic and gives it a beautiful foam. If you’d rather skip it, the flavor will still shine.

The Raspberry Vodka Sour is simple, fresh, and adaptable—you can scale it up for a batch, or keep it small for an easy evening cocktail. It’s one of those drinks that looks like more effort than it really is, which makes it perfect for both casual nights in and when you want to impress a guest.
